Pancreas Transplants by Category

United States pancreas transplants by major recipient categories, n=10,186, from 1988 through 1999 are shown in Figure 2. The majority of the cases, 83.5% (n=8509), have been simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplants (SPK); 11% (n=1123) pancreas after kidney (PAK) transplants; and 5.5% (n=554) pancreas transplants alone (PTA). Pancreas transplants outside the US reported to the IPTR between 1988 and 1999 are shown by recipient category in Figure 3. The majority of the cases are SPK; compared to US totals, the proportion of PAK and PTA transplants is lower.
