PTA Immunosuppression Therapy

Four-fifths of 1996-2000 PTA recipients received one anti-T cell agent as induction. Pancreas graft survival rates were not significantly different for PTA transplants whether or not anti-T cell agents were used for induction (Figure 13). This held true whether for BD or ED cases. Almost 90% of the anti-T cell group and virtually all of the non-anti-T cell group were given Tac and MMF as initial maintenance immunosuppression. Pancreas GSRs at 1 year were somewhat higher in those recipients who received Tac/MMF with anti-T cell agents versus those who did not, 77% and 72% (Figure 16a and 16b).
