Pancreas Transplants by Category

United States pancreas transplants by recipient category from 1988 through 2000 are shown in Figure 28. The majority of all transplant cases per year were SPK (about 84%), with PAK increasing significantly over time to about 11% per year and PTA increasing to about 5%. Pancreas transplants outside the US reported to the IPTR between 1988 and 2000 are shown by recipient category in Figure 29. The vast majority of the cases were SPK as in the US, but compared to US totals, the proportion of PAK and PTA transplants was lower.
