USA SPK, PAK, PTA Graft Survival

Pancreas graft survival rate (GSR) at one-year for 1996-2002 US cadaveric SPK pancreas transplants was 84%; kidney graft survival was at least 90%. For solitary pancreas transplants, GSR at one-year was 76% for PAK and 77% for PTA. GSRs were almost equal among all categories in the short-term, but as time increased SPK GSR remained somewhat better than GSRs for PAK and PTA. (Figure 7).

Pancreas Retransplant Graft Survival

Graft survival rates for 1996-2002 US cadaver SPK and PTA retransplants (Figure 8) were lower compared to primary transplants. For SPK, the difference was due primarily to technical failure (TF): 16% vs. primary 8.5%. For PTA, the rejection rate was substantially higher: 28% retransplant vs. 8% primary. However, for PAK, the largest number of retransplants, the pancreas retransplant GSR (72%) was similar to that for primary PAK transplants (76%) (Figure 7).
