USA Pancreas Graft Duct Management


By duct management technique, bladder drained (BD) versus enteric drained (ED) pancreas graft survival rates (GSRs) at one-year for 1996-2002 US cadaver primary SPK cases were BD 85% and ED 84% (Figure 10); kidney GSRs were BD 90% and ED 92% (Figure 11). Patient survival was 94% (n=1,943) and 95% (n=3,712) respectively; this difference was significant. For 1996-2002 US cadaver primary PAK cases, pancreas GSRs at 1-year for ED were significantly lower than for BD; PTA ED and BD GSRs were similar. PAK GSRs: 80% BD vs. 72% ED (Figure 12); PTA GSRs: 78% BD vs. 74% ED (Figure 13). Patient survival at one-year for PAK was 96% BD (n=495), 94% ED (n=492) and for PTA 98% BD (n=241), 97% ED (n=204).
