Venous Vascular Management Effect on ED Pancreas Outcome

FOR 2000-2004 US CASES

For US primary DD pancreas transplants during 1/2000-6/2004 (n=5549), 81% SPK, 67% PAK, 56% PTA were enteric drained (ED).  Portal (PV) venous vascular management vs. systemic (SV) was used in 23%-44% of these cases: SPK 23%, PAK 27%, PTA 44%.  There was no significant differences in pancreas graft survival rates or TF rates for PV vs. SV. For rejection loss rate in the PTA category, there were no significant differences in loss rates for PV vs. SV ED cases.  However, both of these subgroups had a higher rejection loss rate at 1 year, 16% and 13% respectively, compared to BD cases (5% rejection loss rate) which were all SV drainage (Figure 15).
