FOR US 2000-2004 CASES
Large centers were defined as ≥100 pancreas transplants from 2000 to 2004: 2,108 (38%) in large centers (n=13) vs. 3,441 (62%) in small centers (n=126). Most SPK (66%) and PAK (62%) transplants were done at small centers, while large centers (n=12 of 13) did most PTAs (71%). For 2000-2004 DD primary pancreas transplants, there was a small difference by center size for 1-year SPK pancreas graft survival rates: large centers 87% vs. small centers 84% (p≥0.08). Patient survival also showed only a small difference in SPK and PAK: SPK larger centers 96% vs. small centers 95%; PAK larger centers 97% vs. small centers 95%. There was no impact noted by univariate analysis for PTA. Multivariate analysis showed no impact of center size on either patient or pancreas graft survival.
