Preservation Time Effect on Pancreas Transplant Outcome

FOR US 2000-2004 CASES

For 2000-2004 DD primary pancreas transplants, only 5% SPK, 7% PAK, 11% PTA were stored >24 hours; 40% were stored <12 hours. For PAK or PTA, preservation time did not make a substantial difference by either univariate or multivariate models (p≥0.50) in pancreas graft survival or technical failure (TF). In SPK, lower 1-year pancreas GSRs correlated with longer preservation time (p=0.05). The multivariate model confirmed an increased HR of 1.35 (p=0.11) for SPK pancreas graft failure and 1.46 for TF (p=0.18).
