SPK, PAK and PTA PATIENT SURVIVAL
Patient survival at one-year for 2000-2004 US deceased donor (DD) pancreas transplants was at least 95% in all categories and highest in PTA: SPK 95%; PAK 95%; PTA 98% and at least 88% in all categories at 3 years (Figure 4).

SPK, PAK, PTA GRAFT SURVIVAL
Pancreas graft survival rate (GSR) at one-year for 2000-2004 US DD SPK pancreas transplants was 85%; kidney graft survival was at least 89%. For solitary pancreas transplants, GSR at one-year was nearly equal: 78% for PAK and 76% for PTA. At 3 years, GSRs were at least 62% in all categories (Figure 5).

Figure 5
SPK
Patient survival at 1-year for 2000-2004 non-US SPK DD primary pancreas transplants with complete records for analysis (n=1,601) was 94%. Pancreas graft survival at 1 year was 87%; with kidney graft survival 92% (Figure 6). Results for non-US transplants may overestimate the actual outcome since reporting is voluntary and therefore the follow-up information for several centers was not complete. For this reason the proportion of early censored times is higher in non-US than in comparable US centers.

Figure 6
The number of solitary (PAK, PTA) transplants reported from outside the US is very low, so only limited analyses could be done. For PAK non-US 2000-2004 DD primary pancreas transplants (n=79), patient survival at 1 year was 96% and pancreas GSR was 85%. For PTA DD primary 2000-2004 non-US cases (n=81), patient survival at 1 year was 99%, while pancreas GSR was 76%.
