By duct management technique, bladder drained (BD) versus enteric drained (ED) pancreas graft survival rates (GSRs) at one-year for 2000-2004 US DD primary SPK cases were BD 87% and ED 85% (Figure 8); kidney GSRs were BD 91% and ED 93% (Figure 9). Patient survival rates were 94% and 96% respectively. GSR differences were not significant, but the slight patient survival rate difference was confirmed significant in multivariate analysis.

Figure 9
For 2000-2004 US DD primary PAK cases, pancreas GSRs at 1-year (Figure 10) for ED were lower than for BD, but not significantly. PTA 1-year GSRs (Figure 11) with BD were also higher than ED, but not significantly. Patient survival differences at one year for PAK and PTA were not significant: PAK 96% BD, 95% ED; PTA 97% BD, 98% ED.

Duct Management information was reported for 60% of non-US SPK cases. In a comparison to US SPK cases for the same period, BD showed no differences while ED showed slightly higher GSRs for non-US cases (Table 2). The difference may be explained by the lack of follow-up and the incomplete information on non-US cases should also be noted.
